reads like a ``Who's Who" of Blue Marlin sportfishing.
Well
over 2,000 marlin have been caught in the 37-year history of the July
Open Tournament.
The
38-year average winning fish for the July Open weighed 468 lbs.
First official world record blue marlin (845lbs.) caught in the July
Open Tournament by Elliot Fishman on July 4, 1968.
Men's world record for Blue Marlin (1,282 lbs.) set in these waters
by Larry Martin on August 6, 1977.
Women's world record for Blue Marlin (1,073 lbs) set in these waters
by Maudi Lopez on July 6, 1982.
Many Men's and Women's Line Class world records continue to be set in
these waters.
